1973 Citroën DS23 Pallas
1973 Citroën DS23 Pallas
We’ve always made an effort to make classic Citroëns part of the furniture here at DoL, as lifelong advocates of the unequivocal panache that runs through models from the 50s to the 80s in particular. On a personal note, examples of the DS and SM models have been a part of our family for years, with a family SM currently going through a complete restoration at our Romance of Rust facility. It’s therefore always a pleasure to help find any classic Citroën a new owner, but admittedly we are particularly smitten with this particular 1973 DS23 Pallas.
A Pallas model running on carburettors is already an excellent package, but finished in the gorgeous shade of deep bronze with a très chiccontrasting golden brown and ivory interior, as in this example, is another level. The car was purchased by the current owner from a collector who found the car in Barcelona while purchasing a 1959 DS, and as we’d all hope to, he decided to take them both home with him.
Having been carefully stored, the car had not fallen prey to rust and was subjected to a full mechanical recommissioning including hydropneumatics and then passed on to the current owner. From here the current owner enjoyed the car and kept the car mechanically on-the-button and correctly cared for, with extensive paintwork carried out resulting in the car presenting very well today with only a few minor defects upon close inspection. The car also received fresh seat covers, armrests and headlining, refreshing the DS’s stunning interior design and sofa-like seats.
In December 2019 the car had a thorough going through by specialists Gove Garage, receiving a new fuel tank, pump, sender and hoses as well as tune-up with fresh ignition components and new heater valve.
Sold complete with original documentation from the start of the car’s life and many invoices from maintenance, this DS23 is in our opinion the best of both worlds – neither over restored nor poorly maintained, thoroughly presentable and absolutely ready to hit the road.
We can personally attest to the joy you’ll see on the face fellow motorists, viewed through that gorgeous rear window complete with traditional sun blind, and with roll back sunroof we can think of no finer vehicle for a fully laden cruise to frankly any location. Available from our West London showroom now, with virtual viewings no problem at all.
