I’ve been on edge for days. We started hearing scurrying noises near the loft at night, and sure enough, we found little droppings under the sink and around the washing machine. I’ve had to throw out food and even disinfect the toaster—it’s been that unsettling. What really threw me was realising they can squeeze in through these tiny gaps I never even noticed. It’s made me feel like my home isn’t safe or clean anymore, which has been tough.

That totally reminds me of what we went through earlier this year. It’s amazing how many hidden access points there are—ours were around the pipework under the kitchen and even behind the bath panel. I didn’t know where to start until I came across this article about how to deter rats from the home. It gave us a better idea of what to look for and how to deal with it. We ended up using a mix of wire mesh and sealant, and even added bristle strips to the bottom of some doors. Haven’t had a problem since, thank goodness.
