1956 Ford F100

The Transit is the backbone of Britain. For generations, a Ford Transit or something similar has been responsible for carrying goods, materials and families the length and breadth of the country. Its silhouette has become part of the national landscape, most often spotted in the outside lane of a motorway, pressing on and occasionally nudging past the speed limit.

Yet despite our enduring affection for the humble Transit, our American cousins have never truly understood the appeal. Where Britain embraces the practical panel van, the US prefers its motors, large and in charge. The Ford F-Series, in all its forms, occupies the same cultural space across the pond that the Transit does here. Equally at home on a construction site, a ranch or a suburban driveway.

This 1956 Ford F-100, however, is no ordinary farm truck. While it may have begun life hauling feed or fencing across dusty back roads, today it is anything but standard. The original paint has been stripped away, revealing bare steel that has been painstakingly smoothed and preserved beneath a clear coat.

The truck sits low and purposeful on staggered 20 and 18 inch five spoke Billet Specialities alloys. Its stance is made possible by independent front suspension, upgraded A arms and coilovers, paired with an 8.8-inch four-link rear end. Mustang II disc brakes at both front and rear, replacing the original drums.

Inside, the transformation continues. The original bench seat has made way for three individual seats sourced from a Mercedes and retrimmed in sumptuous Bentley Beluga leather. The painted dashboard and classic dials preserve the spirit of the 1950s, while the addition of Vintage A/C introduces a touch of comfort.

Modernity extends further thanks to Car Audio Security. A Pioneer head unit with Apple CarPlay sits at the centre, supported by Audison speakers and amplifier, a Hertz underseat subwoofer, dash cams, a reversing camera and a Viper two-way remote start and alarm system.

Expectations might suggest a Ford V8 under the bonnet. Instead, this F100 houses a 5.7 litre Chevrolet small block. Equipped with an Edelbrock carburettor, matching inlet manifold and tubular exhaust manifolds, it delivers unmistakably American burble. Power is sent through a TH350 automatic transmission.

As with all our vehicles, an entire digital folder is available upon request and contains more images, walk-around videos, and scans of the service history. The car can also be viewed by appointment at our West London showroom.
