1975 Volvo 144
1975 Volvo 144
For sale on behalf of a long time DoL customer and collector, this 1975 Volvo 144 is a special example of a lesser seen Swede.
Delivered new to a John R. Smith in 1975, the car managed to escape the usual rust that plights this particular model. As the photographs show, the typical problem areas of the inner wings and bulkhead are rust free and in fine condition.
Aside from being a solid example, with a rare cloth interior in excellent condition, the car has benefited from some tasteful upgrades by the owner. Under the bonnet, the 2.0 engine remains mostly standard with the addition of a K&N performance air filter, aluminium rocker cover and a big bore exhaust.
Moving to the exterior, the front end has been cleaned up with the removal of the bumper - though the talking point is of course the gorgeous stance. No corners have been cut to achieve this, with the owner ridding the car of the previous cut springs and butchered shocks and replacing them with a full Classic Swede lowering kit. This includes progressive springs and bespoke Gaz adjustable dampers, and although we wouldn’t change a thing the rear drop is fully adjustable between 60 and 100 millimetres.
The look is finished with widened steels and 50 section tyres, and the car has been serviced including a comprehensive brake overhaul within the last 500 miles. A guaranteed head turner, or ideal candidate for a modified street car or historic rally entrant, now available for viewing at our West London showroom.
