2010 Alpina D3 BiTurbo Touring - Auto

2010 Alpina D3 BiTurbo Touring - Auto

Put simply, there are BMWs and there are Alpinas. While the differences between the two can be subtle, those in the know can spot the performance and elegance of an Alpina a mile off. Good, well-maintained cars are few and far between but here’s one of them – a cracking 2010 Alpina D3 BiTurbo Touring.

Since it started out in Bavaria in the mid-1960s, Alpina made its name by taking top-end BMWs and re-engineering them to have more power, tricks and trim. At the turn of the Millennium, it started working on more humble models as the BMW range expanded, taking in diesels, estates and, eventually SUVs. Over the years Alpina and BMW have gown closer, to the point where the D3 was manufactured on the same production line as the normal 3-series, before being sent to Alpina’s HQ in Buchloe for finalisation and testing.

Arriving in 2008, the D3 BiTurbo took over from the D3 and despite being based on the BMW 320d, the D3 featured the twin-turbo 2-litre four-pot that was typically found in the 1-series. The introduction of a larger Garret turbocharger, larger injectors, larger intercooler and a modified engine management system increased power to 214bhp. As a result, the D3 could hit 62mph in under seven seconds, while the handling was reworked with various M-Power components added, as well as Alpina’s own springs. This car was specced with the six-speed ZF Switchtronic automatic gearbox.

Fitting with the feel of the brand, Alpina made sure its cars came well-equipped from the factory, with a deeper front spoiler, bigger exhaust tips and Alpina badging on the rear. This particular car features the Lux Pack, with black high gloss trim, professional navigation, Bluetooth hands free, voice control and BMW connected drive as well as the optional 19-inch Alpina Classic multispoke rims.

Well looked after and accompanied by its original BMW contract, handbook and supplementary Alpina handbook, the D3 was serviced at BMW specialists Paddock Motors and Moortech Cobham between 2011 and 2021. In 2020, the oil, air and micro filter were changed as well as the brake fluid at 66,352 miles. Today the car has covered 79,000 miles and will be serviced by us as part of the sale.

For those in the know, few ‘tuners’ have the reputation that Alpina does. Its practical cars pride themselves their penchant for performance, all with the build quality and backing from BMW. All enthusiasts know there’s nothing quite like a fast wagon and this D3 BiTurbo Touring is a mighty fine example.

As with all of our vehicles, we have a digital folder available on request containing more images, walkaround videos, pictures of the underside and scans of the service history.

The car can be viewed by appointment at our West London showroom.
