2013 Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4
Naturally, aspirated V12s are not long for this world. One day, they will become myths and legends that we tell our kids about. That might sound a bit doom and gloom, but the good news is, they haven't been relegated to textbooks yet...
At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini launched its latest in a line of V12 two-seater supercars. The Aventador is rather aptly named after an extremely successful Spanish fighting bull. The Aventador didn’t revolutionise the way supercars were built, instead, it took the foundation that Lamborghini had created with the Countach, Diablo and Murcielago and in Spinal Tap fashion, turned things up to 11.
So, what of this car, it’s rather special. Supplied by Lamborghini of London in July of 2013, but not registered until October the same year, this LP700-4 has never been exported. On the outside, you’ll find it's finished in Rosso Mars, a rare colour, one of just three UK Aventadors to be supplied in the shade, and the only coupé of those three.
The paintwork itself is in excellent condition, there is a deep lustre and the shade suits the Aventador’s sharp lines perfectly. The red coachwork is accentuated by contrasting gloss back trimmings throughout the car. The wheels are staggered, 20” on the front and 21” on the rear, they’re lightweight Forged Dione examples and are finished in a high-gloss black, hidden behind them are colour-matched red brake callipers. Clear glass completes the package externally for a bold, but remarkably tasteful look.
Open the dramatic, vertical opening doors to be greeted by an equally impressive Ad Personam interior. The Ad Personam program allows owners to make special requests to create their perfect car for, of course, an extensive additional cost. The interior is finished in Nero Ade and Rosso Alala leather with inverted contrast stitching, whilst the multi-function steering wheel has been trimmed in high-quality smooth leather.
You’d be forgiven for thinking driving such a special car you’d go without creature comforts, but fear not. Inside you’ll find Bluetooth that connects to a Sensonum premium sound system and that the seats are electrically adjusted as well as heated, for those chilly mornings.
Under the engine cover, at the business end, you’ll find a 690BHP 6.5L V12 engine, mated to a flappy paddle gearbox. Crucially, this Aventador benefits from being built after Lamborghini’s gearbox update, making it far more reliable and desirable. The car’s V12 heart is protected by a Carbon Fibre T-shaped engine cover which just makes simple tasks all the more special.The extensive maintenance records include:
