Discover Iceland’s Wild Landscapes on Horseback with Horse Tours Club.

When I first learned about Horse Tours Club, I had no idea how deep and unique the horse riding experience in Iceland would be. Iceland is not just a country with stunning landscapes, it is a place where the land seems alive, where every volcano, glacier and lava field tells its own story. But the most surprising thing for me was meeting the Icelandic horses - small but hardy, with a unique stride that makes travel especially comfortable.

Having decided on this adventure, I went on a week-long trip across the expanses of the country with the Horse Tours Club. From the first days I felt that these were not just standard tourist routes. Every morning began with me saddling my horse, with whom I managed to make friends from the first minutes. She had a special strength, but at the same time a softness that I had not seen in other breeds. These are truly special animals that have lived for centuries in the harsh conditions of Iceland and adapted to the local terrain, being part of the nature of this unusual country.

We drove through lava fields, past bubbling geysers and crystal clear lakes, feeling the wind in our ears and the mountain peaks reflected in the water. At such moments, you feel not just a traveler, but part of something bigger, as if nature itself is letting you into its secrets. The most memorable moment was our drive along the black sand beach - a feeling of complete unity with nature, as the waves of the Atlantic softly frame the horses' hooves and the horizon seems endless.

One of the special features of horse riding in Iceland is the opportunity to try the Icelandic tölt - this is a special gait that only Icelandic horses do. This step was surprisingly gentle, allowing me to enjoy the view and not think about the inconvenience of a long ride. In addition, the horses at Horse Tours Club are trained specifically for such long routes; they are obedient, calm and fully prepared for any conditions - be it rocky trails or green valleys.

I especially enjoyed the stops along the way. We stayed in cozy Icelandic houses, where we could discuss our day with other travelers by the fireplace. It was an unusual feeling - as if we, a small group, were at the edge of the world, far from civilization, but at the same time surrounded by comfort and warmth. It was nice to share emotions with people who experience the same feelings: from admiration for nature to admiration for the horses that became our guides in this wild land.

Every day was full of new discoveries. On one of the routes we drove along the famous Gullfoss waterfall - the sight was so powerful and majestic that for a long time I could not look away. On another, we were lucky to see the northern lights dancing across the skies. At such moments you realize how magical Iceland can be, especially when you travel not by car, but on horseback, feeling every moment of the world around you.

I never thought that horse riding could change the perception of travel so much. When you are on a horse, you are not just a tourist, you become part of this world - alive, wild, majestic. Horse Tours Club allowed me to see Iceland exactly like this - real, harsh, but incredibly beautiful. It was an adventure that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

If you've ever thought about going to Iceland, horse riding is a must. This is a completely different journey, incomparable to what can be experienced by car or on foot. Iceland from the height of the col reveals a completely new side - one that you will not see anywhere else.
